This project is implemented by the Laboratory of Robotics and Automation at the Department of Production and Management Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace. The laboratory deals with educational and research activities related to automation, robotics, computer vision and intelligent systems. It is equipped with robotic platforms and sensor sets, such as quadcopters, mobile and humanoid robots, as well as powerful processing units. In the last 20 years, the laboratory has successfully implemented projects funded by the European Commission, the European Space Agency, the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation, the domestic industry, and other bodies. These projects and the research interests of the team members are mainly focused on robotics, machine learning and artificial intelligence, industrial process automation, human-robot collaboration, and safety.
